Bengal Engineering is the Prime consultant leading the replacement of the Cota Street Bridge as part of the Federally-funded Highway Bridge Program.

Bengal performed all the bridge design, civil engineering, geotechnical investigation and hydraulic analysis in-house.

Bengal’s design accommodated stakeholder needs with special environmental features such as improving Steelhead Trout habitat and storm water discharge to Mission Creek, along with unique design aesthetics for the bridge rails, roadway lighting, fencing, retaining wall and bridge abutments as well as landscaping both at street level and within the creek.

Bengal’s design also accommodated a 6-duct fiber-optic conduit bank which remained fully-operational and in place during the replacement of the bridge, saving an estimated $1 million in utility relocation costs while speeding construction.
